Staudenwirt

At the very beginning of this project we focused on the question: How to design a new gourmet restaurant interior within the traditional bavarian restaurant Staudenwirt that has been running successfully for over 40 years, without tearing a gap in the long tradition. We faced this conceptual and creative challenge in cooperation with the interior architecture office Innenräume and developed an individual room concept.

The idea combines a puristic design language with traditional features such as wood-paneled seating niches and comfortable corner benches. The color scheme adapts to the surroundings; various green, red and earthy brown shades from autumnal nature were captured and transferred to the materials in the interior.

The choice of material is original, such as the 15 meter long textile wall in the form of a wave curtain made of wool loden specially dyed for this restaurant from a weaving mill in the region. In addition to cosiness, the curtain brings pleasantly muted acoustics into the room. The old oak parquet remained, on which the contemporary furniture blends in well with the subtle coloured ambience. A modular lighting concept illuminates the tables with soft spots and draws attention to the most important part of the restaurant, the plate itself.

A large sideboard specially designed for the restaurant forms the centerpiece of the room. The piece of furniture combines a high level of functionality with a simple geometric design language and is given a playful element with a high recognition value thanks to the attached arched lights, which are reminiscent of old French bistro lights. This adaptation of traditional restaurant characteristics and their transformation into the present day was the central idea that guided us through the whole design process.
